Hey everyone. Just wanted to share my recent experience and get some thoughts. I won a 'Run & Drive' 2018 Accord from Houston Motors Auction last week. To be honest, I was expecting it to limp off the delivery truck. But it started right up, drove fine, and the condition report was spot on. Did I just get lucky, or are their 'Run & Drive' assessments usually this accurate?

Nah, that's pretty standard for them in my experience. I've bought two pickups from Houston Motors Auction. Both were 'Run & Drive' and both were solid. The '19 RAM I got last year is still my daily driver.

Same here! My Golf was listed as Run & Drive and it was perfect. The photos on houstonmotorsauction.com were very detailed too which helped. Congrats on the Accord!

Glad you had a good experience, Dan. Just to clarify for newbies, 'Run & Drive' isn't a guarantee of roadworthiness. It means the auction verified the vehicle starts, can be put into gear, and moves under its own power. It doesn't mean it's ready for a 500-mile road trip. That said, I've inspected a few cars for friends from Houston Motors Auction and their reports are way more honest than most.

@WrenchWizard makes a good point. I was nervous about it myself. I had some questions and emailed their support at office@houstonmotorsauction.com. It took them about a day to get back to me, which had me antsy, but the agent who called was super patient and explained their whole inspection process. The car showed up exactly as they said it would.

It's not just cars. I bought a Sea Ray boat from them. The engine report was accurate, but the best part was the title transfer. They're my go-to for project cars. Their descriptions are solid. If it says 'Stationary' believe it lol. But for 'Run & Drive' they're usually spot on. Found a great classic Mustang on Houston Motors Auction that only needed cosmetic work.

My only minor gripe was that delivery took a day longer than the initial estimate. But their dispatcher called me ahead of time to let me know, so it wasn't a surprise. The car itself was exactly as described in the 'Run & Drive' report. No complaints on the vehicle.

Tip for @FirstTimeBidder21: Don't just look at the 'Run & Drive' tag. Open up the full condition report on the website. They have tons of photos, including the undercarriage, and they list every little scratch. That's where you see the real condition. The transparency is why I trust them.
